ABOUT US

INTRODUCTION

The Joondalup Business Centre is the result of a five year planning initiative. Seed funding for a feasibility study was secured in 1999 through a grant from the Commonwealth Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business. The feasibility study confirmed the need for such a facility.

The North West Metropolitan Region is one the fastest growing regions within Western Australia and the nation. As a result there are many commercial opportunities in both the professional and service industries. The rapid growth also reflected rising unemployment and a significant youth proportion of the total population. The feasibility study recognised that both these indicators could be targeted by stimulating small business growth.

Building construction costs were largely met by a grant from The Commonwealth Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business. The City of Joondalup made a significant financial contribution. Edith Cowan University provided the land and additional funding. The Joondalup Business Association also made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Business Centre.

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

The Joondalup Business Centre is managed by the Business Development Association (North West Metropolitan) Inc. This is an incorporated "not-for-profit" organisation and comprises of representatives from the Joondalup Business Association, Edith Cowan University, the City of Joondalup and members of the community.
